Political Corner: They Just Keep Spending Our Money Don’t They?

(will the revolution be televised this time?)

I don’t care if you are a Democrat or a Republican, why do these guys continue to just spend, spend and spend? They guy in the video isn’t from here, but it certainly is ringing true and is the reason why the video is SUPER POPULAR right now. Last week the treasury just decided to print court 1 Trillion dollars more. Just print. Think about gold or diamonds or that high scale restaurant that has a 3 -4 month waiting list (unless you are a super star of course)… you got that in your head right now? Ok, now thing of these items being multiplied a billion times.

So now you have a billion more diamonds, a billion more high scale restaurants to go to other than the one you originally wanted and a billion more gold nuggets. Would you still PAY 100 dollars to get in a restaurant that you could just go down the block to? Would that diamond be as special if every person in the US could have 3 of them and their would still be some left over?

Now that was for a billion more diamonds and gold nuggets… now multiply that 10 times more to 1 Trillion.

You see the problem?  You could literally line the streets with gold and no one would take a second look because gold would be as plentiful as copper, wood, and rubber.

It gets worst because, as you may already know, we spent even more than that before we printed out this new money.

I don’t know what is going to happen but I did learn one thing about all of this ad that there are 2 economic theories at play here. One is Keynesian economics and the other is the Austrian School of Economics. I am definaitly going to read the Astrian version to see what I am missing. Let you know what I find when I do.

Portrait of the Grown and Sexy: Aaron Schock, age 27

Aaron Schock - Americas Youngest Congressmen

(from the Today Show)

At a young age he is now a congressmen and has done a whole bunch of other things way before most of us even think about it. He is what I think is the portrait of someone who is grown and sex. Why did he become who he became? Because a school board wouldn’t allow him to graduate early from school.

This is a perfect example of someone not taking no for an answer (without being a prick) and actually doing something about a situation. I tell you this, if you want something, stand up. Do research… I will say it again, DO RESEARCH. I will say it one more time, do research. It is one of the biggest reasons why I created the links archive for the grown and sexy (and one  of the reasons why I created eSource Magazine an formed my own business because I think its high time for a business to help small businesses and individuals get the leg up on life). You have to do research. I would dare say it may be more important than being an expert on a specific subject or 2 (or 3).

Well anyway, here are the details:

Aaron Schock, age 27 – Youngest Congressmen

Member of the U.S. House of Representatives
from Illinois‘s 18th district

There’s no shortage of 20-somethings in Washington, particularly around the White House and Capitol.

Most are just beginning their careers in the nation’s capital but, reports CBS News Senior White House Correspondent Bill Plante, as Aaron Schock comes to town, he’s raising more than a few eyebrows.

At 27, Schock looks more like your typical congressional aide than a congressman, but he’s taking the oath as a Republican member of the House of Representatives from the 18th district in central Illinois.

He also has a face book profile (so do I, maybe I should add him). and probably has a Twitter because, who doesn’t? I kow I have one lol

Official Potrait of First Lady – Michelle Obama

First-Lady-Official-Potrait

(as seen on MSN and of course Today)

A nice video on what this fashion trend could mean, who the designer is, and more info. Man, I need to go to the gym.

By the way, do you think the sleevless look is appropriate fir the first lady to show her arms?

Can you believe I am asking this question? lol

Go and see the video.

At 12:06pm EST We Have A New President: Barack Obama

Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States of America

Ladies and gentlemen, we now have a new president of the US.

President Barack H. Obama

Let the real work begin. Be the change you wish to see in the world. Remember to follow what our elected polititians are doing and rememeber to nudge them in the right direction.

Later, I will add the speech. For me, these 2 quotes were the highlights:

“Your people will remember what you build, not what you destroy.”

“We are willing to extend our hand if you are willing to unclunch your fist.”

Simply amazing.

Barack Obama Is The 44th President of the UNITED STATES

Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States of America

Well, I am alive to see the day. Considering the fact that I am black and I am statically an anomaly because I was either supposed to be in jail or dead but I am actually educated, never been to jail and not dead, I have to say I am very proud of this moment.

I stand behind him and I hope the people who voted for him and for those who didn’t, I think we all have allot of work to do. Let’s Get IT!!!

More on this later.

Closed Mouths Don’t Get Fed: Go Vote

Time to vote!!!

If you can vote, then go and do it. Don’t give up and don’t tell yourself that your one vote doesn’t count. As a person who has a very active political family, I have to say you vote counts whether the person you voted for wins or not, IT COUNTS.

I have more to say about this and other things in the future with this blog. I think that being grown and sexy isn’t just knowing the latest fashions and tech but also knowing how to be a professional and being responsible and political. Almost nobody likes politics, but you better know it, understand it, and get involved with it.

When all of this voting stuff becomes unfashionable, remember this: Closed Mouths Don’t Get Fed.

Being Grown and Sexy means being fashionable, professional and responsible. Ladies and gentleman, LETS GET IT!!!

The New Yorker Tries To Be Funny

In order to be truly grown and sexy, between buying the right fashion and tech toys while being the quintessential business professional (or owner), you have to be following the political front even if for a little bit. So you must have came across this during the last few days:

I have to say that this election year can only get more interesting lol It will be even more interesting when we either get a really old guy for president or a black guy for president. 2009 will be the year to be in I suppose. Some real history is going to be made for all of us.

My opinion? Its a bit distasteful, but I am very much the thinker (sometimes to my detriment) and I immediately (well, after a second or 2) understood what was going on here. It was The New Yorker just pointing out irrational fears of who Obama is. Complete with the fist pound (and obvious terrorist/gang symbol of thuggery), picture of Osama Bin Laden on the wall with the USofA flag burning in the fire place, wife with retro 60’s/70’s afro (fight the power) and a gun on her back. She got the, “you go boy” look on her face and he got the, “I just hoodwinked you MF’s”

I guess I understand the uproar, but to me it was a satire and a very detailed one. Much like many political comic drawings seen on Slate.com (do a Google search for Political Cartoons), they tend to draw on the events of the times and have multiple meanings embedded in them. This cartoon is no different than those seen in the political cartoon circle and they can go for the jugular at times.

Nevertheless, I do believe they did go a little bit too far.

And if you think about how someone who is Muslim feels about this cartoon, it makes it worst.

So What IS The Economic Plan, Obama?

Don’t get me wrong here, I like Obama (I’m a Democrat, albeit a conservative Democrat) and I also like Hillary, but that doesn’t mean I will just give them a pass because I’m a Democrat and McCain is a Republican.

When it comes to economic policy, Barack Obama’s standard campaign crack that a John McCain administration would amount to a third term of George W. Bush contains an awful lot of truth. Yes, McCain is a different man, with a different history, who will face a different set of challenges and opportunities than Bush has. But look through McCain’s campaign pledges on the economy, and for the most part they really do amount to a continuation of two key policy priorities of the Bush administration: cutting taxes and moving more economic decisions (and responsibilities) into the hands of individuals.

McCain economic adviser Douglas Holtz-Eakin tried over the weekend to make the case that it’s Obama who more closely resembles Bush because they’re both big spenders. But it’s hard to see that one sticking. If this election becomes a referendum on the recent performance of the U.S. economy, Obama wins and McCain loses. It’s as simple as that.

I am all for raising taxes for people who have more disposable money as well as raising taxes for businesses, BUT I don’t want blind taxation. I want smart taxation. 150,000 dollars a year might sound like allot to me and you (for me, that is changing… 150,000 a year don’t sound so great to me any more but at the same time its still allot) but I don’t think its allot for a family of 3.

And if you are going to tax those who earn, say over 200,000 a year, lets put that new tax to things we need now like investing in our infrastructure (roads, train, airports, electric grid, fuel distubution and so forth). Imagine taking a train going 300MPH to Florida from New York and get their in 8 hours 9or less… I don’t feel like doing calulations on how far NYC is from say Maimi and how long it would take to ge there at 300MPH lol). We are in dire need of investing in our infrastructure especially our trains, bridges, tunnels and airports.

Taxing oil companies for their windfall sounds great, but it would be better if they were allowed to use that money on new technology and R&D for new fuel deposits and such. I think they would do a better job at finding more resources then the government would.

I don’t want taxes, I want smart taxation and investment.
